Sustainable Farming at Packington

We’re incredibly passionate about the environment we work in and believe it’s vital to ensure it’s maintained for future generations. Our land is in environmental schemes in partnership with Natural England to encourage a wide range of diverse species to flourish. By putting grass margins around our fields we protect the hedges, by planting field corners with wild bird seed and pollen and nectar mixes we encourage and protect the wildlife around us.

Renewable Energy & Solar

In recent years, we’ve invested in 450kw of solar for our roofs at Blakenhall Park. We swiftly followed this with a further 1.8mw in a field on the farm, taking our total generation capacity to in excess of 2.2mw…that’s enough to the power more than 600 homes! We’re incredibly excited about this. Not only are we proud to be producing green energy, but it’s incredibly satisfying knowing our carbon footprint has been significantly (if not completely) reduced.

Improving our environment

It’s not just hi-tech solutions like solar power that has helped us to reduce our carbon footprint, we’ve also planted over 80,000 trees during the last 20 years. Trees produce oxygen and remove carbon dioxide and contaminants from the air, but they are also a vital habitat for lots of birds and insects and help create a bio-diversity that is so important to natural farmland like ours.
