Antony Worrall Thompson cooks up a Packington storm at Lichfield Food Festival

Last weekend, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to be involved with Lichfield Food Festival and provide our free-range pork and chicken to none other than Antony Worrall Thompson; if you’d been following our Tweets or Facebook updates in the run up to the event, you’d have noted just how excited we were that the celebrity chef himself was cooking with our meat during a cookery demonstration for festival visitors.

The 2 day weekend festival opened its gates on Saturday September 1st attracting thousands of visitors both local and further afield. This was an incredible achievement for those organising the event considering it was Lichfield’s first ever food festival. And boy, were foodie fans in for a treat as the festival played host to seven local chefs and two of the top names in the celebrity chef world – John Torode and Antony Worrall Thompson, both of whom took part in cookery demonstrations.

We were delighted to supply Antony with both our free-range pork and chicken, and as expected he cooked up a storm in the Lichfield Garrick Theatre which was jam-packed with spectators all wanting to catch a glimpse of the master chef in action. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all, especially since we got the chance to speak with Antony and local chef, Simon Smith, prior to the cookery demonstration. Both chefs and also the organisers of the Lichfield Food Festival were very accommodating and showed a keen interest in wanting to know more about Packington, which was very pleasing for us. A huge thanks must go out to all those that were involved in making it possible and congratulations for putting on a very successful show. We can’t wait for next year’s!
