Exciting Progress at Kids’ Village: The Road Is Open and the Vision Is Coming to Life

We’re delighted to share the latest updates from Kids’ Village, a truly inspiring project we’re proud to support through the donation of 35 acres of land.

There’s a real sense of momentum on site — the access road has now been completed and officially opened, marking a major milestone in the build. With 4 of the 10 lodges already funded, supporters can now drive right up to their future lodge sites. The first lodge is expected to be in place by Spring 2026, and as one supporter put it, “This is going to happen — and it will be good!”

The excitement is spreading locally too, with growing interest and positivity from the surrounding community as the vision starts to take shape.

A Magical Gala Evening

To celebrate progress and continue raising vital funds, the Kids’ Village Gala Dinner took place on 3rd October at the brand-new Masters Suite, The Belfry Hotel & Resort. More than 300 guests attended the black-tie event, raising an incredible £78,000 towards the capital appeal.

The evening was filled with joy and inspiration, featuring performances from children at JAKS Academy and Scientia Academy, live music from Apollo Gold, and a heartwarming appearance from Audrina, the young star of the Kids’ Village appeal video.

Co-hosted by BBC Radio presenter and Kids’ Village Trustee Ed James alongside Co-Founder Sam Fletcher-Goodwin, with comedian Aaron James leading the auction, the event captured the spirit of childhood that lies at the heart of the charity’s mission.

Looking Ahead

Kids’ Village Chief Executive Katrina Cooke shared that with over £2.1 million now pledged, the charity needs to raise a further £1 million to part-open the site in Spring 2027.

As Chairman Doug Wright MBE DL reflected:

“We are enormously proud of the progress of Kids’ Village since we launched the capital appeal. Through 2025, many of our conversations have moved from advocacy to firm support, which has enabled us to begin construction works on site.”

Kids’ Village will be the UK’s first purpose-built holiday village offering free, week-long stays for critically ill children and their families — giving them a place to relax, reconnect, and create treasured memories together.
