Why our pork chops are different

At Packington Free Range, we focus on producing pork with real depth of flavour. Our British pigs are reared to high welfare standards with space, care and a natural approach that allows them to develop properly.

Pork chops are cut from the loin, giving a balance of tenderness and flavour, especially when cooked correctly.

The result is pork that is juicy, full of flavour and a noticeable step up in quality.

Often underestimated, this is a cut that delivers exceptional flavour when cooked properly.

How to cook your pork chops

Cook properly and you’ll get juicy, tender pork every time.

For best results, cook quickly over a medium-high heat to develop a golden crust while keeping the meat tender.

Pan fry or grill for around 6 to 8 minutes on each side, depending on thickness, until cooked through.

Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving to keep the meat juicy and tender.

Simple seasoning with salt and pepper is all that’s needed, the quality does the work.

Perfect for quick meals, midweek cooking or simple, flavour-led dishes.

What to expect

Description

Working with one of our trusted stockists, the local family-run butchers Paul Shum in Yoxall, we’re pleased to offer Packington pork directly through our website, available to order alongside our poultry with the same trusted delivery service.

As a fourth-generation British family farm in rural Staffordshire, we have been producing food for over 100 years, with a focus on high welfare, sustainability and proper farming methods.

All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington, where sows live their entire lives with space to roam, wallow and socialise. Once weaned, piglets move into large outdoor paddocks with well-bedded shelters, before progressing to spacious, naturally lit barns with outdoor access.

Low group numbers, deep straw bedding and careful attention from our farmers ensure welfare remains paramount at every stage.

Our pigs are allowed to develop and mature naturally, producing pork that is rich in flavour, tender in texture and a noticeable step up in quality.

Cooking Instructions

Our pork chops are naturally full of flavour and easy to cook. Perfect for grilling, pan-frying or baking, they make a great option for an easy midweek meal or a hearty dinner.

Before cooking:
Remove the pork chops from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking, ensuring all packaging is removed. Allowing the meat to come to room temperature helps it cook more evenly.

Pan Frying:

Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
Season the chops with salt and pepper if desired.
Cook for 4–10 minutes on each side, depending on thickness.
Ensure the pork is cooked through with no pink meat remaining and juices run clear.

Oven Cooking:

Preheat oven to 180°C / 160°C fan / Gas Mark 4.
Season the chops and place in a roasting tray.
Cook for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through.

Resting:
Allow the chops to rest for apx 5 minutes before serving to keep them tender and juicy.

Food safety:
Ensure pork is cooked thoroughly before eating.

Tips
Avoid overcooking, as pork chops can become dry if cooked too long.

Resting after cooking helps retain moisture and tenderness.

Thicker chops tend to give better results and stay juicier.
