Why our bacon is different

At Packington Free Range, we focus on producing pork with real depth of flavour. Our British pigs are reared to high welfare standards with space, care and a natural approach that allows them to develop properly.

Our bacon is made using this same high-quality pork and traditional curing methods, allowing flavour to develop naturally rather than being rushed.

The result is bacon that is rich, balanced and full of flavour, with a proper texture and a noticeable difference on the plate.

How to cook your bacon

For best results, cook over a medium heat to allow the fat to render and the bacon to crisp gradually.

Fry or grill until golden and crisp to your preference, turning occasionally for even cooking.

Avoid cooking too quickly, as this can cause the bacon to toughen rather than crisp.

Simple cooking is all that’s needed, the quality does the work.

Ideal for breakfast, sandwiches or adding depth of flavour to a wide range of dishes.

What to expect

  • Rich, traditional bacon flavour
  • A proper balance of lean meat and fat
  • Crisp, golden finish when cooked
  • A versatile, everyday staple

Crisp when you want it, tender when you don’t.

Description

Working with one of our trusted stockists, the local family-run butchers Paul Shum in Yoxall, we’re pleased to offer Packington pork products directly through our website, available to order alongside our poultry with the same trusted delivery service.

Our bacon is made using high welfare British pork and traditional curing methods, allowing flavour to develop naturally for a richer, more authentic taste.

Made using proper curing methods, not rushed production.

Ingredients: Pork, Sea Salt, Demerara Sugar, Preservative E250 & E251, Yeast extract (Sulphite), Antioxidant E301.

As a fourth-generation British family farm in rural Staffordshire, we have been producing food for over 100 years, with a focus on high welfare, sustainability and proper farming methods.

All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington, where sows live their entire lives with space to roam, wallow and socialise. Once weaned, piglets move into large outdoor paddocks with well-bedded shelters, before progressing to spacious, naturally lit barns with outdoor access.

Low group numbers, deep straw bedding and careful attention from our farmers ensure welfare remains paramount at every stage.

Our pigs are allowed to develop and mature naturally, producing pork that is rich in flavour, tender in texture and a noticeable step up in quality.

Cooking Instructions

To cook: Bacon can be fried, grilled or use an air fryer.

Fry:
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a frying pan until hot, add the bacon and cook streaky or back rashers for 1–2 minutes on each side. Dry frying is a healthier method of frying where only the melted fat from the meat is used. Place in a cold non-stick frying pan and cook over a low heat to start with, once some fat starts to run out, increase the heat and cook for 1–2 minutes on each side.

Grill:
Preheat the grill to high, place the rashers on the grill pan and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, depending on how crispy you like them. Grilling is a much healthier method of cooking than frying and if you prefer crispy bacon you will get a better result.

Airfry:
Lay the bacon in a single layer in the base of an air fryer – be sure the layers aren't overlapping. The size of the air fryer basket will determine how many rashers you can cook at one time.

Set the air fryer to 200°C and cook for 4-8 mins, depending on your preference. If you are cooking in batches, remember that the second batch will usually be quicker as the air fryer has heated up.

Tips

Cook gently to allow fat to render properly.
Avoid overcrowding the pan for even cooking.
Drain on kitchen paper for a crisp finish.
