Why our pork shoulder is different
At Packington Free Range, we focus on producing pork with real depth of flavour. Our pigs are reared to high welfare standards with space, care and a natural approach that allows them to develop properly.
Our pork shoulder has been awarded a 3-Star Great Taste Award, the highest accolade, recognising it as exceptional for flavour and quality.
The result is pork that is rich, tender and full of character, with the perfect balance of meat and fat for slow cooking, a noticeable difference on the plate.
How to cook your pork shoulder
For best results, cook low and slow to allow the fat to render and the meat to become tender.
Roast at 160–170°C for several hours, depending on size, until the meat is soft and easily pulls apart.
Alternatively, slow cook for effortless pulled pork with deep, rich flavour.
Simple seasoning is all that’s needed, the quality does the work.
Perfect for roasts, slow cooking or feeding a crowd.
What to expect
- Rich, full pork flavour
- Tender, pull-apart texture
- Deep, developed flavour from slow cooking
- A reliable, satisfying centrepiece
Perfect for sharing, feeding a crowd or creating proper, comforting meals.

Our pork shoulder has been awarded a 3-Star Great Taste Award, the highest accolade, recognising it as exceptional for flavour and quality.
As a fourth-generation family farm in rural Staffordshire, we have been producing food for over 100 years, with a focus on high welfare, sustainability and proper farming methods.
All our pigs are born outdoors at Packington, where sows live their entire lives with space to roam, wallow and socialise. Once weaned, piglets move into large outdoor paddocks with well-bedded shelters, before progressing to spacious, naturally lit barns with outdoor access.
Low group numbers, deep straw bedding and careful attention from our farmers ensure welfare remains paramount at every stage.
Our pigs are allowed to develop and mature naturally, producing pork that is rich in flavour, tender in texture and a noticeable step up in quality.
